When my son graduated from high school, he decided he wanted to pursue his life long passion of music and recording arts. As a child he was always writing and arranging music. He also sang rapped and played the piano. He had decided to get his Associate Degree in Recording Arts. His plan was to get some technical experience and then proceed to get his music published. He decided to attend a college in Orlando that specialized in the entertainment industry. The college he attended allowed an individual to get their Associate Degree in one year and their Bachelors Degree in 2 years by attending school everyday. He had made the decision to get his Associate Degree in Recording Arts. He had a plan. He had a purpose. I should have allowed him to follow his plan. I should have allowed him to follow his dream but I talked him into getting his Bachelor Degree. I told him that having a Bachelors Degree under his belt would advance his career better. I guess I secretly wanted to say that my first son had a Bachelors Degree. Reluctantly my son agreed with me and change his status to a Bachelors. He has always listened to me . How I wish that I had allowed him to follow his own plans. How I wish that I had allowed him to make up his own mind. How I wish that I hadn’t influenced him to alter his plans. He would have graduated at the end of 2010 with an Associate Degree in Recording Arts. He would have then come back home to Alabama. What took place in 2011 would have never happened. I wish that I had minded my own business. I thought that I knew what was best for him. I was wrong.
