The lost of a child to an illness is devastating. The lost of a child to imprisonment is just as devastating. How can one compare the two? It can be compared because your child is still not with you. He is living with hardened criminals, murderers, rapists and you wonder what will happen to him. You wonder who will he be when he is released 10 or 12 years later. At least with death, there is a finality. At least there is closure. There is no closure for imprisonment. There are only sleepless nights of crying and despair.
